    Default Golden-fronted Woodpecker

    This was shot from a blind on a ranch just south of Childress, TX last March. He had been putting some kind of yellow berry into the cracks of the fence post. Unfortunately the head is just slightly OOF in the shots I have of the bird doing that.

    Alan- I have to admit that when I first read your post I jumped on to Birds of North America Online to prove you wrong :D Not happening. Very good call. I was told that the bird was a Flicker and I didn't bother to research it. The Golden-fronted Woodpecker is far more interesting than the Flicker :) Thanks for the ID

    Gorgeous image nice detail the centralized comp. works for me because of the pose captured . Well Done!

    Nice framing for the pose. I always like fence posts and barbed wire.....brings back nice memories of growing up. The gray sky is very complementary. Well done.

    Very nice work Michael. I find your signature a little overwhelming but you did well with the head turn and composition.

    I thought that looked different than the flickers that reside in my backyard! What an interesting looking bird. Love the position of the bird and nice detail!
