    Default New Computer

I am in the market for a new computer. Now that I have CS4/Windows XP and only 1 GB RAM, everything has changed! I assume I will be staying with Windows. Any suggestions? I can still use my Dell 9200 laptop for roadtrips, but would like a new desktop for home.

    Joanna,

Dell seems to be putting out some nice machines.
I recommend a dual or quad core 2.2-3.0 GHZ processor with 4GB of ram on a 32bit system.

I am using Vista 64bit to take advantage of the large ram capabilities. I am running 8GB of ram.
So far no driver conflicts. PSCS4 and Lightroom 2 are true 64bit software.

Joanna I just got a Dell XPS 630i and am very pleased with it. I have XP pro loaded on it, but got as part of the package Vista Ultimate on a DVD included. I got it loaded with two 750 HD's and 4 gigs of ram. So far it runs CS3 and NX2 very well. This is my third XPS machine of Dell's, so that tells you how happy I am with them. I have my older XPS machine still running connected to the new one via a KVM switch. Two machines same monitor, keyboard and mouse, just touch a switch to go between the two. Hope that helps!
