    Default Juv. Sabine's Gull

    1DM2n, 600mm... Full Frame

This bird, in juvenal plumage, was very high on my wish-list of species (and plumages) to photograph. Being mostly pelagic, and only keeping this plumage for a short period of time, kept my odds low. However this fall a cooperative bird showed up fairly close to home, and allowed for 1000+ photos!

I haven't had much in the way of excitement this fall for photography, but this bird was a major highlight!

    Happy Shooting!

Super to see Brandon. You've captured the bird really nicely. There is excellent sharpness here and that's despite a BIF with a 600mm lens!

Was the bird on the Niagara River?

    Hey John,

The bird was on the River, on the NY side near Buffalo - feeding on an endless stream of minnows!

    Thanks for the comments! :D

Well done getting the shot Brandon a real beauty for sure. Although I think I'd like to see this in a tighter crop remember you can post up to 1024pixels on the longest side.

Great banking pose, eye contact and BG. There is a slight blue cast on my monitor.

Very nice angle on the bird showing its distinctive juv. patterning. Beautiful feather detail in general, but just a little loss of detail in far wing tip on my monitor.

Spectacular bird, sharpness, pose, and image. Would love to see the BKGR toned down a bit possibly with a Gaussian blur... As good as the image is, the pose is simply perfect! As well as the EXP. Way to go!
