    Another brown pelican from the usual spot at La Jolla.
    D300; 70-200VR with 1.7x TC; 1/800; f11; ISO 250

    A bit better head angle would have put this over the top...but it's still a highly enjoyable image to view. Love the colours, the composition...and of course the wide gap of the open bill. Well done :-)

    agree with daniel about the head angle! you did capture some beautiful colors in the bird and the bg is wonderful!

    1 clarifying question & 1 answer:

    - when u say "better head angle" do u mean the pelican's face should be facing the camera a bit more?

    - yes, the image was taken last year on Dec 22.
