    Default Sanderling

    Hi

We have quite a few settled in to the local beach for the winter now, so I thought I would pay them a visit last weekend. They must be one of my favourite waders to photograph and always bring a smile. This shot was taken using my frying pan ground pod.

1Dmk3 and 500mm on a Wimberley head mounted on the 'sandpan'. ISO 250 1/2000s -0.67EV F7.1 with evaluative metering.

For any one interested I have also just posted some bird test photos using the 50D on my Blog which can be found here.

Great low angle, and a super pose by the Sanderling. I'd remove the dark OOF spots located in the brightest BG band. I'm glad you kept the object(?) there as it balances the comp nicely...but I wish I knew what it was! :-)

It is rare that I disagree with Daniel but this posture does not work for me--it seems quite awkward. Sharp and nice soft light.

The low angle works well of course. It really brings on into the image. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the OOF area in the foreground seems to slope down to the left. The midground looks level so it must have been the sand. I'm wondering if a little QM work could (or should) level that out as well.

Thanks for the replies and comments. I quite liked the inquisitive pose of the bird on this one whixh is so typical of the species as they rush about along the tideline.

    Cheers
