    This was taken last year while photographing in the Pantanal, Brazil. It was amzingly beautiful and appeared to be a very proud bird.

    Nikon D200
    Nikon 600mm F4,
    ISO 250
    1/1250,
    F5.6

    Awesome looking bird, Judy Lynn! I think I might be inclined to take a bit of the top off of this image. Neat!

    What a lovely bird this is. The Brazilians call it "Maria-faceira" or "Mary the coquette". I have never managed to show the colors as well as you have in this image and I have also never seen it puff out its neck feathers like this. I assume that this is some sort of display and that you were in the Pantanal during the breeding season when the colors would be more vibrant.
    I wouldn't change a thing.

    What a superb looking bird. A very nice capture, indeed. With members from all over the world we are getting to see birds that we never knew existed. This is one terrific website.
