    Default A Street Walker

    Attached Images Attached Images

D300 70-300 f4.5-5.6 VR @ 300mm, handheld. Manual exposure mode, ISO 800 f5.6 1/320sec (should have used a faster shutter speed but that would need to the use of higher ISO).

The original is under-exposed a bit so tweaked the exposure in pp plus other usual pp stuff done. Cropped for composition purpose.

    C&C are appreciated !

Oh, the pigeon was walking by a parked car.

Walking with a purpose.... I think I would remove the object that is in the foreground. Otherwise I like it.

I also sunk to pigeons about a week ago (smile); "real" birds and sunlight were both hard to find. BTW, if you can get closer, with the head in the light, the eyes are amazing. Interesting how often pigeon images have car parts in them.
Nice low angle (I'm sure squatting down with a camera in a parking lot could get you lots of attention).
The image looks a bit dark still, at least on this monitor. I am not sure what you are trying to capture in this image. If it is the "strutting pigeon", then the oof bits might be detracting from that idea. If this is more a pigeon portrait, we are too far away and the ha doesn't help.
I look forward to more pigeon images. I think they have some photogenic qualities that we haven't explored much.
Putting birdseed in my pocket and heading to the mall.

"Sunk"? Pigeons are good: they're always there. You don't even have to travel far to photo them ;)

The moment of just another pigeon walking by :D

If this is more a pigeon portrait,
    Not a portrait.

I think they have some photogenic qualities that we haven't explored much.
They are better than seagulls, IMO.

Also, I have posted a couple of pigeon shots before.

Thanks for your detailed comments, Gail !

Hi Desmond I like doing those birds Great subjects and if you work them can get some awesome flight images ... and like you say don't have to go far !!!

I like the pose and see what you are trying to do but not one of my favorites from yours. Head angle is a bit off, not razor sharp and a little dark. As presented you can go in and work on the eye. .... what about some fill flash !!!!

Yike ! :o I think the sharpness or the inadequate of it has something to do with the shutter speed not fast enough. Fill flash...errr..hmm...of course :o:o

    Thanks everyone !

Agree with the you don't have to go far to photograph them. Like your composition and the details.
