    Default American Goldfinch

This is a significant crop of an image of a male American Goldfinch just completing the molt to winter plumage. I love the softness of the colors. I debated about the "extra" branches and decided to leave them, thinking they might support the composition. What do you think?
Also this is my first submission since calibrating my monitor, so I'm also interested in comments about darkness of the image.
All comments and suggestions are welcome and most appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi Gail Nothing wrong with calibration, looks good !! I like the placement with a little more room to the right, image is clean, well exposed and has a good feel. The two things I don't like is the large crop and branch merging with tail !!!

Would stick a 2X converter on that lens in a heartbeat !!!!! btw good tech settings !!

    Gail,
I like the composition, agree with Mr. Forns about the techs. The cloning of the branches are an easy fix...looking forward to your next capture...

So THAT'S where my goldfinch are hiding out at! :D:):D

The only branch I have a problem with is the one that dissects the tail. The rest are simple enough that they don't detract from the comp so I'd leave 'em be.

    Calibration looks good as well.

Hello Gail, I agree with Julie on the branch in front of the tail. Too bad about the large crop. All in all, still a very good looking image you've got here !

Thanks for all the comments. The "twig on the tail" is the one that has to go. Good exercise for my slowly developing post-processing skills.
