Had a chance to make a run down to Bosque Del Apache. First outing there with my new 50D. I was pleased with the autofocus performance for birds in flight.
I'm interested in your thoughts on this image. I added a bit of canvas on the left, and cropped down to about 70% of the image.
Techs:
Canon 50D
500mm f/4 with 1.4x
1/1600 @ f/7.1
ISO 200
Love the image. Bird is well focused and he DOF is right in the proper range; don't see any AOC; good. The BG is a plus as well; the only thing I might do is select the green area, create a layer, use gausian blur, then use blending sliders to blend the green into the blue a bit more. Good image.
Great flight shot Keith! The open beak and eye contact are a plus. My eye is drawn to the green in the LLC; I would try to tone it down some in order to preserve the layer effect but lessen the color differentiation between layers.
