Another image from my just completed tour to Yellowstone. Quite the thrill of a lifetime! This is from later in the day....when the alpha male returned to the pack and the rest ran up to greet him. That is the alpha female on the left. They were much further away at this point.......so I popped on the 1.4 teleconverter as quickly as I could..........this was from a series of images that had the best head angles on all 4......again......not my perfect BG choice.......but I'll take it. There was another male still hiding somewhere in the woods to our right.....so we were always on the look-out.

Canon Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800mm lens and 1.4 tele at 962mm at f10 for 1/1250 sec at ISO 800.....all tripod mounted with Wimberly head. Cropped a bit from top (minimize trees), bottom and slightly right side.

As always comments and critiques welcomed.

    Roman,
I can see that you had a superb trip. Blessed you are. The crop works for me including the positions of the wolves.

    Cheers,

I do not mind the crop, background, or the worried look for the other hidden wolf. LOL. Nothing like getting close and personal with the wolves! I love being with them.

    Hey Grady,
Yeah......but they were wild........and I might actually be on the menu  !
I did call my wife after the first 3 hours........and told her that my camera bag in the car.........had the 8G card with the likely culprits if I didn't make it out of the next 4 hour shoot! It was all worth it!

    HI Roman,
I like the comp of this one with the standing one on the left and the close, lowered heads of the other three. BG doesn't detract too much as there's still enough detail in there to give a sense of the "mysterious forest" in which they live.
