    Default Black-Crowned Night-Heron

A family of wild BCNHs has taken up residence at the local zoo. Sometimes you can get quite close to them. This one struck a pose for me. I like the metallic green in the plumage.

Great portrait, I like the details, exposure control and BG in this one.

Nice detail in the bird. A tighter crop might make that more of a highlight.

    Doug,

I do like the bird for the most part. Excellent details, sharp red eye, the right side of the neck is exposed well, great wing details in the lower half. I find the left side body line of the portrait to be a bit too shadowed. It also seems to be too close to the "spots" of blurred color in the background. The one spot next to the breast seems to jump out at you, to me anyway. By far it is a nice portrait, closer than I have. Mine is in a tree. Just a different view. Not trying to be negative.
