I went for a nice long paddle today in the Everglades to see if some Flamingos were still in a certain spot. I was in luck and excited to see them, let alone photograph them. Here is my early favorite. I hope I can get out again, as conditions are difficult for keepers. I was shooting from a kayak, fighting a current, and wind, and 20d autofocus.

    Thanks for any comments,
    Paul

This looks great to me Paul, especially given the circumstances. I love the colours reflected on the water, the fabulous eye contact and splendid detail. The only slight nit I have is that the bird is just a tiny bit too centred in the frame for my tastes but definitely a keeper in my book.

    Cheers.

Great light, pose and details. I agree regarding putting the bird a bit further to the left in the frame.

Considering the difficult conditions of the kayak you did a very good job Paul. I like a lot the bird´s pose with just one leg on the water, and the "S" shape of the neck. Neat eye contact and very nice light. The BG is a little bit distracting and the only thing that you can do to save that is adding a little bit of gaussian blur to the upper part of the frame. I added a touch of saturation and cropped for a different composition and here is the result :-)
