    Photographed this Heliconia after it rained at Fairchild Tropical Gardens with my Canon 40D. ISO 800, f/11.0. , 1/80 sec, -0.67 EV, EF180mm f/3.5 Macro, Pattern Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome.

    Great colours and sharpness Richard. Might have liked to have seen the red spike on the left but there was probably more going on in that section. Nice to see the raindrops too.

    peculiar crop but does work well Might even crop a little more of the left so it looks deliberate and give a tad more room on the right !!! I like the feel very much !!! Excellent !!!

    Hi Richard,
    I like the composition, image and capture, you have good color rendition of the reds and the whites...The details especially on the contour of the flower stems are well defined.. I made a few adjustments to enhance this beautiful composition. I added canvas and reconstructed the left red stem which was cut off; you need this one to balance the composition, I blackened the background to piano black, just leaving the splashes of blue which looks nice and adds character to the image. I increased saturation and contrast slightly, pushing the envelope just a tad and selective sharpened the water droplets...see if this sits well with you...:cool:

    Al, I always love to here your ideas, Thanks. I wanted to set the image off to the side and let the red diagonal show strong instead of centering the flower. Just another one of my crazy thoughts.

    love your repost, richard. really nice. the water drops add a lot. gus, that's some of your best ps work to date!! very nice reconstruction job!!
