Just when shorebird migration is all but wrapped-up up here along comes this surprise late lingerer Dunlin. It was quite the willing subject as I was able to work it for a long time. It was still hanging around when I had to leave :-) This image was created when it decided to walk right by me as I was laying down in frozen mud/goose dropping mixture (thank goodness it was frozen!!)

Canon 40D + 100-400L @ 400mm, aperture priority, 1/1250s., f/7.1, ISO 400. Evaluative metering, no EC, natural light, handheld. ~80% full-frame.
