This was actually taken about this time last year. I was lying on my belly at the side of the Serpentine with the camera held at arm's length just a few inches above the water. This is why the horizon isn't terribly straight!
5D + 24-70mm @ 24mm. ISO 200, F11 @ 1/200 sec. Although I don't see it in the EXIF, I'm positive I used fill flash. That was the purpose of the tripasmy previous attempt at similar images hadn't worked out due to absence of any flash.
Really nice perspective and just what I was looking for !!!! Can make some compelling images this way. Would give the bird more room particularly up top. Did seem to have some flash fill from the catchlight.
Do like the intense look and water dropping from beak. Would desaturate the bg a bit, colors sort of jump at you !!! Excellent image !!!
In addition to all the comments above, the low angle is terrific here. BTW - did you know that these birds can be down right nasty and that you were mighty close (smile). All for art (not Morris in this case)
Well done.

I have heard this too Gail, Although never been witness to it. Not native to Canada they take over the trumpeter swan's areas and feeding grounds, and have heard stories about them trying to drown small dogs......true
Thanks all for the kind comments. They are greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Sean
PS: Gail, although I have seen swans attack people and dogs, this is predominantly when they are protecting a nest. The ones on the Serpentine tend to be fairly approachable as they are habitually fed bread by visitors to the park
