    Default Roots & Leaves

    The colourful autumn leaves lying around the tree trunk & roots was pretty inviting. While viewing the image on my PC, I felt something lacking about the image. The gaps between the leaves & the sharp rendering of the veins & leaf edges looked a bit aggressive. I felt if I could bring a diffusing effect, it cud perhaps be a little more soothing to eyes. This image gave me the opportunity to try the 'Orton effect' which I wanted to experiment with for a long time.

    Techs:
    Nikon D60 + Nikkor 18-55mm;
    f/5.6, 1/160, ISO200

    Wud like to know ur views...

    I love the composition, the colors and the softening effect

    Yep,
    Orton effect is a very good choice here..........popping some more contrast in may work also.......but just for you to explore.....as I like your original comp and effect very much. Nicely done!

    This is very nice Kaushik... I really like your presentation with the black border too. A beautiful image all around. I'm not familiar with the 'ortan effect'... is there something to read on this that I'm not familiar with? Nice work!

    John, here's a tutorial by Fabs Forns on Orton effect: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=11216

    More general info on photographer Michael Orton's technique where he used to sandwich 2 slides of same scene: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orton_(photography)

    :)
