A hen Pintail was resting on a log and preening outside my photo blind just as the sun rose.

I like the lighting, but I'm not crazy about the composition: everything appears on one side of the photo. I would like to see more separation between the pintail and...whatever that is right behind it. I'm thinking...for this photo, it only needs the pintail, the water and the light. The water level may be tilted, too.

I agree with Desmond that the light is nice and warm. It is a pity it was so much from the right giving you shadows on the left - you may be able to open these up a bit more with shadow/highlight. You may have been better served by a horizontal crop. I don't think the reflection adds much as it is so chopped up

An horizontal composition may have suited this image better. Setting up your blind with the sun rising behind you would also be beneficial to take advantage of the great early morning light that is evidenced here. Also mentioned was the CW rotation needed. It looks like it was a peaceful morning for you and the wildlife!

I agree with most of the comments. I'm curious...why is there a black line inside the image?
