    The light was pretty bright when I shot this at Ft. DeSoto. Canon 20D, 1/400@7.1, -1/3 ev, 100-400 @ 400mm. I dodged and burned a little.

    I like the dynamic pose, Joanna. The light is difficult with harsh light coming from the left that puts the near side of the face in shadow. Have you tried Artie's linear burn trick? It may add a little more detail to the bright whites but you have done well to keep detail there.

    Off-angled harsh light almost always prevents the creation of an exceptional image and that is what happened here... Wonderful pose and good sharpness but the poor light angle, the harsh light, and the wave breaking though the center of the bird's body are all negatives...
