    Brown Pelican in what I think is worn breeding plumage. At first I disliked the BG but now it has grown on me. Taken at the cliffs near Shell Beach, CA.

    400D, 100-400 at 250
    1/160, f/5.6, ISO 400

    I like the soft light, pose and the BG works for me, too. The bird looks a bit soft on my monitor and I might give it a bit more space.

    Agree with Axel 100% he said preety much what I was going to say except that the body looks like some S&H were applied... let me know if I am wrong.

    I like the colour palette of this image, Aidan. BG tones work well with the plumage. I don't mind the tight crop but agree about a bit more sharpening for web display
