Default Down and Dirty and Wet and Cold

Was at East Beach in Fort DeSoto yesterday afternoon. Forgot my skins and got down on the wet sand and got soaked to my underwear. (I know, not a pleasant thought.) I had been working first with the 500 on the Panning Ground Pod and then switch to handholding the 400 DO.

This first winter Greater Yellowlegs was photographed with the handheld Canon 400mm f/4 IS DO lens, the 1.4X II TC, and the EOSS-1D MIII. ISO 400. Evaluative Metering +1 stop: 1/1000 sec. at f/7.1.

Very nice Artie I like the pose captured and that water color really compliments the Yellowlegs. Excellent Shot!

Very pretty, the whites look brilliant (but not overexposed).

Beautiful. Perfect head angle and pose. The composition couldn't be better. Lovely in every respect.

Great exposure control, details and head angle. I like the serene mood in this one.

Very Nice comp and detail, exposure is great and pose is nice as well, I like the colours very much, I only see some sharpening halos in the bill, head and primary feathers.
Congratulaitons Arthur, getting soaked did pay off!

Nice pose and head-turn - well worth the wet jocks.

Lovely light and pose. Sharpening haloes mentioned by Ramon. Looks like something from a BAA Bulletin:)

Thanks Jackie. I agree. Here is a version with a 26% opacity Linear Burn on the whites.

ps: I can see the difference when viewing the images side by side but it is pretty much impossible when scrolling here...

Nice one Artie! I thought the whites looked fine on the original. Bright but not blown.
