    Default Male Blond-crested Woodpecker

Photographed at Parque do Zizo near São Paulo, Brazil.
D20, 400mm f/4.0 DO at f/4.0, 1/400, ISO 200 and, unusually for me, with a tripod since I had managed to dislocate my shoulder a few days earlier!

Cropped very slightly to move the bird a bit right and to remove the lower part of the branch. Some sharpening around the bill and eye.

Stunning looking bird-The head looks slightly OOF to me or maybe more sharpening might help

Hey, he looks like Sting! :D It looks to me like the focus is on the wing rather than the head.

What a cool little woodpecker. I agree it could use some more sharpening and I also would wish for a lighter BG. But I realize sometimes (especially in the jungle) this is just not possible.

A spectacular bird. Colors are great.
