South on the Grand View road just past the Island in the Sky visitors' center in Canyonlands National Park.
I was testing my new 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. This young female was entirely unconcerned by my presence.

Hi Fred... great detail and I really like the eye contact and grass extending out of the mouth. Looks like you handled the exposure nicely in the direct sunlight. Nice work!

    Hi Fred,
I'd say the test was successful. Nicely exposed. I'd remove the floating grass coming in from the left side (as viewed) since its seems to be seperated from the rest of the stalk.

Nice work Fred. I agree with Steve on removing that stray grass stalk.

Great detail and a nice portrait. With the BG as close as it is I may have shot this at F2.8 to get the BG blurred more....

I agree the bg should be more blurred. It sort of jumps out at you. It makes the head shot seems to close. But nice work at getting the image. Please keep posting.

    Default I played with it.

This one is harder than the Raven mods. Cropped, softened, and lightened the background for separation. Cloned out the errant grass blade. What's the verdict? That is if anyone even looks at this again.

    Hey Fred,
Removal of the stray grass provides a nice even balance to his meal. Personally, I thought the first BG was ok. Only thing I would've done would be to maybe lighten or clone out the dark border shadows of the rock between his left ear and horn.
