This is specially for Oom Gus , he should recognize it!! Lesson learnt - hope it does you justice.:D

PP work: cropped, stem removed and filled in, selective sharpening on eyes and light USM over final image.

Jeni, I love your brown BG on some of your shots. What is it? What kind of birds are these? Great shot BTW.

Hi Denise, the bg is from OOF shrubs and a hedge; sometimes it gets a bit of the river in the distance depending on the angle.
When the bird is perched on a single branch, it is usually one I positioned with mainly trees and sky in bg, again depending on the angle. ( I cut the centre of a bush out much to hubbie's disgust so I can use it as a hide!! )
I don't usually fiddle with the bg apart from running Noise Ninja if necessary.
The birds are Bronze Mannikins size 9cms; common little birds and I seem to be feeding the entire population on the KwazuluNatal coastline!! I love their colours but they are extremely quick and quite shy.

    Hi Jeni,
I like the landing capture, the oof green blotch does not bother me...I would have liked to have seen a wider capture to include the entire group of birds at the bottom...it looks a bit tight in frame...

Thanks so much! This one was meant for the trash can; I sent it to Oom Gus 3 weeks ago to see what he suggested so I could practice and learn. Didn't get it as good as what he did...:o but am still trying.
Other Gus, ;) original has a large bright green stem on the left side running from top to bottom in front of the birds and through the BIF's left wing. (actually almost through the centre of the original image) That was difficult enough to sort out!!
I haven't mastered the minus values sufficiently yet to save the other Mannikins ; so this crop was for me inevitable.:p
I am just so chuffed that I got it good enough to post!!:D
