Default Shutzhund Belgian Malinois with terminal cancer

It was a sad session for me, but I was honored that they wanted me to the portraits enough to seek me out at an event.

More of this guy and his sister in the form of raw proofs can be seen here: http://www.jimpoor.com/cpg/thumbnails.php?album=85

I have a thing for the darker faces in GSD, Belgian Malinois, and certain other breeds. This one is just beautiful in person.

The contact might lead me to be able to photograph some shutzhund training too.

Edit: noted wrong breed originally :o

Great pose and crop. Even in illness he still has the alert eyes and ears these breeds are known for.

Years ago I was involved with training our two Rotts and a GSD. It was a personally very rewarding experience which made me a more disciplined person as well as benefiting our companions.

    Thanks all,

I actually prefer the 4 crop for this image, but the client wanted it in a 4x6 and I didn't have time re-process specifically for the post.

I think the 4 gives the dog a bit more majesty and a sort of knight (as in the chess piece) appearance.

Jim, is that one of your prefab BG's that you were working on months ago? It looks just beautiful with this dog in front of it.

The photograph is really stunning...it is on the verge of being a painting it is so good!

    Thanks Julie,

Yes, that is my Fall / Halloween / Thanksgiving backdrop. When people stop by for the themed pictures, I try to also get a few without all the props in the way so they look a little more formal. This was the same event / backdrop that the Orioles mascot was at in a post further down in this forum.

Jim, I love all the pictures of the animals. Some of them break my heart though. :(. What can I say, I just love animals and want them all to be happy, healthy and safe.

    Thanks Gus,

I have to give all the credit to the dog though. He is awesome.

    Thanks Janet,

It certainly is a roller coaster ride of emotion at times, but overall, it's great.
I can assure you that, at least while he was out that day, this dog was very happy and one could never tell he's sick. I'm sure his owner will do everything to keep him happy and comfortable.
