    Default Yellow Bellied Marmot

I didn't have my long lens for this shot, but patiently waited for it to stick its head out of a rock outcropping. Canon 20D, 28-135mm @ 132mm, ISO 800, 1/100 @6.3, +2/3 EV, hand held

    Hi Joanna,

I like the head on look and the two teeth just visible. The head tilt to the side really adds a sense of emotion to the image - like what are you looking at?

I debated on the leaves on the right and decided to loose them in the repost. I also lightened the image using levels adjustment and added contrast using a curves adjustment. One pass of USM on a BG copy at 175/0.3/0 to sharpen it.

    Hi Joanna,

Cool that you could approach this little fellow with a smaller lens. I love the patterns on the fur and the teeth. The repost of Robert did the photograph well IMO.

A bit soft as presented, but I love the look and the original comp.
    Something weird around the teeth?

Reallly like the repost.. The dark area and the leaves were a distraction...
