    Default Pied-billed Grebe

Taken on a windy day this weekend in Boston. The little grebe would flap when a big gust came. A flash would have helped, but I am happy with it.

    Camera model:Canon EOS 40D
    Focal length:400 mm
    Exposure:1/500 at f/5.6
    Exposure bias:+1 2/3 EV
    ISO speed:ISO 800
    Metering mode:Pattern

I would be happy also !!! Excellent exp compensation and pose Intense look is just perfect Was looking at taking a little off the top for proportion, more dynamic. Great feel and love the image !!!!

I agree. You can take out a bit from the top. The flapping wings, the body and the water give a nice sense of motion.

Alfred said it all and well. And yes, a bit of flash would have been nice.

Bill. This was taken in aperture priority to keep my lens speed up. I wrestled with shutter speed and proper exposure and found this worked out well.

Alfred and Sabyasachi thanks you for the suggestion.

Art thanks for taking the time to comment as well. It was nice meeting you In Newport, briefly, and hearing you share your stories.

    Thanks
    Taylor
