    Default Hooded Merganser

I was happy to get this individual swimming towards me. The gradiant in its' eye, from inner black to outer orange, is quite spectacular in the right light - hope to get a close-up before it migrates its way outta here!

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, Aperture priority, 1/1600s., f/6.3, ISO 400, -0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, slightly cropped for composition.

Comp is nice and the head turn/eye contact is just amazing, the details are very cool. I also like the duckweed in the water.

I might run some mild NR on the top/BG and thats it.

Thanks Bill :), I had the shooting mode already written down in the techs: Aperture Priority. If you meant metering mode, then it was Evaluative metering that I used.
