    Default Loggerhead Shrike

Was working some Meadowlarks, Spoonbills, and Wood Storks near my home today, but this fellow just kept hanging around. He might be getting used to me, which is a good thing!

I wish for just a bit less head turn, but I'll take it ;). I opted for the square crop due to the diagonal perch. I also cloned out a weed that was in the right of the frame.

    Canon 1DsMII, 600mm f/4L with 1.4x TC, f/5.6, 1/800, ISO 200, off monopod.

I agree with your self-critique about the head turn, this head turn and body angle were not easy to compose, the square format works well! Congratulations as BG, light, exposre and detail are amazing!

I think Tony nailed this one. Agree with everything he said. If only you'd gotten a little more head turn!

Cute little guy. Well exposed and composed Like the perch, too. You needed someone in front of him making a noise to get him to turn away a little.

Lovely shot, Bob. Ramon has covered all the points (I think Doug meant Ramon rather than Tony:)). You have handled the exposure well for a very pleasing image

I agree about the head turn but the exposition is very good and the BG is fantastic. Great eye contact and you did well choosing a square composition Bob:)

Its a beautiful bird well shot and the good part is that whites here are not blown out.
