i know this isnt the motif color but oh well!!!!! went to jacksonville naval air station yesterday for the airshow. absolutely horrible weather. didnt even know if they were going to fly! clouds finally gave way to the sun when the blue angels landed at the end of the day! oh well, better luck next time. i did like this one as it isnt the run of the mill blue angels pic. and no it is not a composite. it is right out of the camera!!

thanks for looking. comments and critiques are appreciated! was thinking of taking the blue sky and just blowing it out for a total high key image. what do you think?

    Hi Harold!

Gee - I can't even get a couple of pelicans in focus drifting along practically hovering. I know these guys went over FAST! Great job getting them in focus, and stopped! The sky color is nice, too - you got a little blue in there after all. also a nice detail that you got the one on top turning so that the writing is really sharp!

    Thanks for showing us!

Harold, I was in NY the other day for the PDN Expo. I went to hear Moose Peterson give a lecture on photography. Well he gave a lecture on fighter planes and alot of other type of planes like you have posted. He said it was all HH and at the end of the day he sure was beat! I thought I was going to see photos of endangered species - but it was still interesting! BTW your photo is cool. I bet you'll frame this one.

    Doctor Davis,
I think you captured a rare species of blue jays...:p;):):D they look like they are well fed due to their size...:D I like the angle of capture, and flight formation...well done...

    Hi Harold,
Great capture my friend - definitely echo Amy's comments about not even being able to get hovering pelicans in focus!!!! :D:D:o
Personally I would leave the sky as it is - I think that the blue planes help to bring out the colour in the sky.
    Regards,
    Nicki

    Hi Harold,

NIce image! I like the comp with the two jets flying out of formation. I agree with other that you did a great job of getting all of these planes in frame and in focus. Colors look good. I also would leave the blue sky. Very nice. Congratulations.

    Regards,

    Phil

nope!! 50mm. they were right in front of me!! you could feel the heat!!! it was really cool. they are a must see for anyone. thunderbirds give a real good show too, but i have biased towards the blue angels! f-18 is one of my favorite jets and i love the paint job too!!

    Hi Harold:

Great shot Young Man, I love it.

Bit faster than the ones we flew in WWll.

Jets today are one of my favourite birds.

Must have been a wonderful sensation to hear the whine and heat of the engines roaring up close.

Great close up, especially being ready with 50mm . .

    Thanks for sharing.
