From the old days with slide film but still one of my favorites. I was walking around Loxahatchee when this gator surged out of the water with an unfortunate turtle in his huge jaws. The rest of the images are a little gruesome.

Oh my, that little turtle looks befuddled! Great action shot. I like the composition and the catch light. You were in the right place at at the right time!

Holy moly, Susan! That is one cool photo. I do feel horrible for the turtle but love the image! I find the grass above the gator's head just a tad bit distracting where the hotter spots are at. Have you tried to clone or tone them down at all? Everything else is fabulous!

Oh, and I'm grateful this is the ONLY image you are showing!

Wow - what an image! I just KNEW it had to be film when I saw the image.... I think I miss film. There's just still quite a difference, I think.

I guess the turtle wasn't too traumatized by the ride out of the river in the jaws of the Alligator - I would have been tucked in my shell (but I guess that makes it hard to run, huh?).

Definitely an amazing shot - it would be one of my favorites, too!

    Thanks for sharing it!

I guess this one qualifies for and you think you're having a bad day. Amy the ride back into the river might be a little rough.

Awesome photo Susan as it is a real keeper with great detail and action. What perfect placement of turtle in gators jaws, head looking back going OH SH......T

A great natural history image for sure. Light was handled very well.
