I spooked this GBH while I was working on some Pacific Grebes. It
glided around a bluff into the mouth of a tributary 1/4 mile downstream.
I guessed correctly that it would land on a fallen cottonwwood I knew
was there. I followed, set up my exposure parameters, and with
camera ready, eased my kayak around the corner to drift into the deep
shade. There he was waiting for his/my photo op.
Deep breath! This is my first posting of an image. What a wonderful forum you/we have here -- I love it, and am learning so much!
Big welcome, glad you decided to get your feet wet, it's the best way to learn and improve.
Lovely light and exposure. Only wish for two litte things: A head turn your way (that will put the eye and the tip of the bill in the same focal plane) and just a bit more room at the bottom. Although you didn't clip the toes, it couls use some more room to breathe, if that makes sense.
Hope your BPN experience will prove to be a very positive one for your photography :)
Welcome, Craig. Great light, perch and BG. I also wish for a bit more head turn and maybe sharpen the heron a bit more. It is a bit tight in the frame for my taste. Keep them coming.
