Although this must be one of the largest birds [ excluding the Dodo] ever depicted on BPN, it ie far easier to photograph a small bird than this colossus, firstly you have to get him early morning with soft light otherwise you have no detail in the blacks, you need enough room for the long neck, and you must try and get some composition with a difficult subject which is basically up and down, but porttrait shots end up with the bird in the center, because there is no other place to put it. Thanks for looking, my previuos posts felt a little neglected.

Nice shot of a male in breeding condition with his pink shins and beak , Loukie. I agree they are difficult birds to photograph well but I would be even more impressed if you could find a Dodo to photograph and post :D. Only suggestion is to may increase the sharpening on the head and neck and reduce it on his legs.

Wonderful image of the male Ostrich and you are so right they are not an easy bird to photograph Loukie. I very much like the composition showing their natural environment and the alert pose as well as good detail in the dark feathers. Well done and many thanks for sharing.

I asume it is not easy to get a OOF BG with such large subjects, and the BG here looks preety great to me, that tree is a bit distracting but I like the composition, very balanced. The pose and the light are nice as the exposure and detail. Good job! Congratulations!
