This post you'll need to excuse me I'm still trying the 50-D camera. The crop factor for this camera is 1.6 so at 500-MM I now have 800-MM instead of 640MM with the MK-3. I need to give myself more room when using the 500mm, so please bear with me in this learning curve. It could have had more room at the bottom but it was only more Duck Weed so I thought it was o.k. please let me know.
Canon 50-D at f/8 1/1000th of a sec. ISO=800 w/500MM-L equaling 800MM.
Thank you all so much and for all your wonderful help and comments, it has helped me grow, thanks.
Hi Bill, always fun learning with new toys!! You are right in thinking more space below could be better...especially if it was only duckwed below as the only work needed was lower the camera. As is the virtual legs (I believe Artie came up with this term) are cut. I also see that you did some work along most of the top of the duck as there is evidence all around of such work (see contour of wings, head, breast). Looks like this guy is growing new feathers under the wings?
You are right on Daniel but to extend the canvas on the bottom would have shown more Duck Weed and not the legs, is this a big deal ? Also pointing the camera down was not an option because there is a board-walk, I should have move back and missed the shot, still learning and they will get better I promise.

Really like the pose you captured Bill and the extended wings. Excellent detail and color too and the little bit of duckweed is a nice touch of the environment. Good comments from above. Many thanks for sharing.
Bill I'd like more room below and you captured a really nice pose. But I really like the most important thing that you got with this is excellent detail... Well Done!!!!
Np Doug this is the old one but the new one comes today. I was down to the Palm Beach Photo Center and checked about 3 or more bodies and not one exhibited any of the things mine did so I'm hoping, thank you for everything Doug.
Ah yes, much better. There is some cleaning up to do in the clone work to make it less evident...but you can instantly see how the comp is much more pleasing and balanced. Next time it would be easier to just point the lens lower :-)
