    I was pretty happy to get some shots of this guy, as the curlews don't usually let me get very close. The background (pickleweed) bugged me at first but now it has grown on me.

    400D, 100-400 at 400

    Great shot Aidan, my only concern is that the bottom of the picture is distracting attention away from the bird.

    I'm wondering if a tad more saturation and/or contrast would help here. Great view of the bill...too bad the head wasn't turned a few degrees more though. I'm OK with most of the BG, except for a few stray brighter streaks (including the one crossing behind the bill).

    Great view of the bill, agree some of the light areas in the BG could become a distraction.

    Congratulations on such a close capture of the curlew. Their beak is incredible and you did a wonderful job in capturing it. The BG is a tad distracting but still a great image. Congratulations !!!

    Nice shot Aidan I think this shot could use a touch more USM for web presentation and a slight mid tone adjustment in levels the pickle weed is not a problem for me. Thanks For Sharing.
