    D2X, 600, ISO 250, f10 @ 1/320, -1.0 EV.

    I set this perch up over a pond. I photoshopped a little bark to the top of the perch to break up the hard line from where the stump had been cut.

    This was a set up I did in hopes for a Ringed Kingfisher (which is a much larger bird), so some may feel the perch is a little dominant. And no, I never got the Ringed :(

    The perch maybe a touch dominant but is a pretty nice composition.That kingfisher just pops against that B/G.Nice job keeping the detail in the hilights

    Fantastic as always Alan. Great pose I don't think the perch is to dominant it looks good to me.

    agree on the perch, as you already mentioned, otherwise fantastic. I am sure you will get the Ringed... :)

    Looks very nice Alan! The composition and calling kingfisher are really excellent. Combine that with the smooth background and the fact that kingfisher hate to stay near me, and you have a big winner. :)

    No disappointment here for me Alan. Your choice of perch is very photogenic and really makes this imge work. The Belted Kingfisher was a fitting substitute for the intended Ringed!! BG is also just superb as is the overall exposure.
