Thought i would include some environment with this little guy, think the BG turned out pretty good on this one.

Hi Glenn - like the composition and colours on this one. You have nice lighting - late afternoon.

Bird does look a little soft - some sharpening may help a little - although I think it's more because of a slow shutter speed in relation to the focal length you were shooting at. Generally if you are shooting at 500mm - the minimum shutter speed you would want to use would be 1/500th or use a tripod.

Also think you could crop it a little tighter and still not loose the habitat feel.

    looking forward to seeing more.

    Hi Glenn,
I like the base composition, I made a few adjustment, see if you like...I cropped from the bottom and right, toned down the white hot spots on the bird, and ran noise reduction in the background. also selective sharpened the eye....

I'd crop a bit off the bottom, but not as much as Gus did. I'd leave the rest as is, or perhaps a bit sharpening as Lance suggested.

Hi Glenn, I like the colors and have to agree w/ Lance-it looks alittle soft- but the bird looks sweet and I would of shot it too!!

OK i did a few adjustments after reading your comments, i sharpened the Sparrow a bit and instead of cropping i did a little cloning out instead .How does it look now. Gus your version is fine and i like it ,this is something of in the middle version. OK well maybe 60/40 adjustment:) Thanks for taking the time everyone ,its what makes this Forum one of the best on the net.
Im here to learn ,so don't hold back :D

Excellent feel Glenn !!! This is one of those images you need to nail the crop in camera !!! As presented I don't like the position of the bird A small bird in frame you need to place him by one of the corners.

In this case it would be determined by what you could come up with !!! From looking it would seem top left would be the best placement !!! Very fine image !!!!

Hi Glenn, although the experts here often decide otherwise, I'm a big fan of frames showing the surroundings of a bird. I think you did a wonderful job here. The light and colors are great. I really like that you managed to get the bright spot in the BG right behind the bird. Really places it in the spotlight, despite the potentiallly distracting BG. Totally agree with Alfreds suggestion regarding the position of the bird. This is the crop I had in mind. I think with this cropping, you need the sticks in the FG to balance the composition. I do like the sharpened bird in your repost!
