    last weekend i took this portrait of Mallard.

    Nice profile. I would move the subject up in the frame a little. Looks a bit over exposed - loss of detail in the whites and yellow on the beak - may be recoverable if shot as a RAW and reprocessed. BG nice apart from the lines which are distracting. I would selectively lighten the eye and increase the sharpening for web display. Posting technical details re camera, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure mode, compensation etc. would maximise opportunity for comment.

    Nice BG. It looks like the light was a bit harsh. Tony's comments are good, especially about the exposure.

    Tony has covered the 'technical crits', with which I agree. My comment concerns the composition - it just looks uncomfortable in the frame. Moving it up, as Tony also suggested, and slightly in to the left would help and also show the white collar completly. This collar is an important identification feature of this particular species and should be included in a portrait image.
