    Welcome to BPN,

You were dealing with some strong light here that caused the road to wash out. I downloaded the image and in Photoshop using the adjustment Shadows/Highlights set as follows, was able to tame much of the washed out highlights.

    Shadows: 71/25/30
    Highlights: 78/38/0
    Midtone Contrast: +4

Herds are often difficult to deal with. Here the head of the one on the right is partially obscured. Better to get him more in the open if possible. I like the placement of the lead elephant in the road and leading the way for the others. I would suggest a bit more room on the left was needed to get that elephant more room to the left edge. The road makes a good leading line into the image and leads the viewer right to the elephants - that was a good idea with the composition.
