I used one of my "walking around cameras" for this image --- when I was just walking around.;)
The plant is a Red Osier which is only red at this time of year. I am most interested in what you think about the composition. I have done very little pp on the image - bit of sharpening and altered the reds and magenta slightly. All suggestions and comments most appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Hi Gail,
I like what you were trying to do here; but the composition is too busy, the main subject is not defined...I made a few modifications to the image to illustrate my point...see if this presents better for you...I cloned out all of the other plants and left the main one standing after the cloning storm...:) I blurred out the background in a blend of hues, selective sharpened the leaves, increased saturation, and boosted the contrast a wee bit...see if you like...
Gus- thanks for the re-post and the suggestion that the main element/s of the image are overpowered and confusion reigns. The re-post certainly hangs together much more than my original. I think the more I look at the image, the more I think I could/should have focused on just the central leaf; it has marvelous veining. Big message is that I needed to take more time to consider what I wanted the image to do.
Thanks again, much appreciated and most helpful.

Hi Gail not sure what other options you had composing Do like the bg since it sets up the reds so well Would be trying to isolate a couple of the leafs for a clean bg or maybe zero in on just one.
Alfred - thanks for the thoughtful and supportive comments. It was the backlighting that drew me to the leaves. I think you are right in that this image probably can't be saved, but there was an image there to be made but I missed the opportunity by not taking the time to create it. Amazing how many times I can repeat the same mistake.
Thanks again
Gail
