I don't think I would ever leave the house with a view like this. Would love to see even more images stitched together for a pano. Love the layered effect and the colours.

Hello Chris, you've just made me very jealous of the place you live! Not to mention your photography skills. Can you give me some more info on the light metering of this image? I've tried to capture scenes like this before, but never succeeded because I couldn't get the light reading right. Either the sky looses all color or the mountains just become on big black mass.
The longer I look at your image, the more the clouds seem to really drift!

    Jerry,
In shooting sunrises or sunsets I meter off of the sky so the highlights don't get blown out. If the sun is in it I try to meter to the right or left of it. Then in post processing I create an adjustment layer so that i can work on the sky and the mountains separately. Once I've got the look I like I fiddle with the opacity of the adjustment layer until it looks good before I flatten the layers. I'm a real novice when it comes to Photo Shop so I'm sure some of the Gurus around here could chime in and give us a better way of doing it.

    Thanks for the compliment,

    Chris

Thanks for the info Chris! I'll give it a go when I'm in the mountains again (which may take a while, because we don't have any in The Netherlands).
