    Default Dark-Eyed Junco

    Canon 40D
    Canon 500mm f/4L IS +1.4x
    Shutter Speed: 1/800
    Aperture Value: F7.1
    ISO Speed: 200
    Evaluative metering
    Manual Exposure

These Junco's would just as soon feed off the ground as perch. I have spent many hours watching and waiting for them to perch. I did manage to get a few shots that I like.

    thanks for looking

Wonderful sharpness, pose and BG. I might crop a bit off the top to eliminate the darker area at the top. I like the perch, but I am not sure about the placement of the bird in the frame.

I very much like it as presented as the perch adds a lot to the composition IMO. I agree about cropping a little from the top but love the composition and pose. Really very beautiful Darren.

One of my favorite Juncos; Slatey, I believe. I personally would not crop off the top portion; the gradation of colour provides a good transition of tones: effective. all else is spot on.

Me too. I think the comp is really nice. The bird is looking into the short side of the image but there's space there so looks fine.

I like it as presented. The beautiful mossy perch balances out the bird looking to the short side. Lovely bg. Very nice image.
