I am still working at getting some of my basic skills down in photo shop. I saw a picture similar to this one so I thought i would create an image of my own. This image is a composite of four images.
    A match box
My hand with an unlit match
    A matchhead being lit
And a grove of Redwoods in my backyard

It was a lot of fun to do and I like the unspoken symbolism or irony of the completed image.

Nice work! I'd say the only thing left is to rebalance the color on the hand as it appears to be a little bit on the yellow side. I'd also check your feathering adjustment on the hand as it's pretty obvious that it's cut in. Feathering it a bit more should make it look more natural.

Did you also generate the shadow on the matchbox? If you did - good job!

    Julie,
I agree the hand is a bit on the yellow side. I was struggling with that. Yes I did the shadows in the matchbox. It took me a long time to get it right.
    Thanks Julie

Pretty cool, Chris!! I thnk these are alot of fun to create! You did a really good job, I think, on everything but the edges of the hand, as Julie pointed out. Sometimes it helps to go around those edges with your eraser at a lower than normal opacity, and/or a slight softening brush....
