I think Judd and I were taking turns photographing this guy. Oystercatchers are seabirds of special concern and I find them to be quite attractive subjects. I photographed this one with a Canon 1D MK II N, 500mm Canon L lens, exposure bias +1/3, f/7.1 at 2000 sec, ISO 250, cropped slightly in Photoshop along with usual sharpening, etc.

I missed out getting to meet everyone in the morning and only had an hour in the afternoon at the park so this is the best I could come up with.

This was the first time I had ever been there and will definitely be going back with my pontoon boat. I would be willing to take some fellow BPN members on her if there is any interest.

This heron was probably photographed quite a bit out there! Nice shot of the Heron with the eel, Mike. I've never seen the birds out there eating so much!

Here is a simple portrait. I posted it in the Avian forum, and have made a few changes based on feedback there. I removed the dust spot by the heron's head, I cropped for composition, sharpened the bird, and reduced noise in the background. I also made a layer of the background and used linear burn at 30% opacity to deepen the background color a little for better contrast with the bird.

    Default Willet Pose

Here's my favorite of the day. I like the pose and also the mood created by the cloudy morning. It was great to meet some more BPNer's in real life.
