This image was made at the Keolado Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur, India. As the sun went down, this pair of Sarus cranes started calling.
Image created with a Canon 5D and EF 500mm at f4, 1/250s at ISO 200.

Unusual and effective composition of birds facing outwards.

The sun looks a bit strange on my monitor: I see a ring inside the top edge and an odd effect where the tree overlaps. If the original looks that way (it may just be my screen or an effect of downsizing) can it be processed out? That would make this image just about perfect for me.

I can't understand why there is that strange colour at the join of sun and the shrub. I could not get it away with my basic PS skills. The only solution I could come across was to convert into a monochrome image which is attached.
