Well, the birds in the foreground make the title all the funnier.... I just love the webbed landing gear....

On my monitor, there appears to be a bright line of pixels just above the tree-line where the trees meet the sky.

I think the picture tells a story as it is.

    Hey,

Another nice Brown Pelican shot for you Harold. I like pretty much everything about this image, nice feather detail, pose and great light. For my taste I would clean up the bottom of the frame and clone out the birds along the bottom.

    Doctor Davis,
This is very nice, I like the landing gear on this bird...:D The spread wing position is sharp with details, and the colors are great. I love the foreground. My recommendation would be to clone out the pelican to the right at the bottom of the frame, that is cut in half...congrats...I like it very much...

    Hi Harold,

I like these birds also. They always make me smile. I like the pose. The bird is sharp with good detail.

As to your question, I tried a different crop that excluded the birds at the bottom of the frame. I wasn’t sure I like it any better that as presented.

Hope you don’t mind but I did a quick editing to show what I mean. I did think editing out the pelican in the lower right made it feel better to me (not necessarily quality better). I also edited out the small birds on the lower left that was partially out of the frame.

I also did a quick and dirty attempt at reducing or eliminating the shadow that the bill cast.

I wish the wing did not over lap with the land but still pleasing to me as presented.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Phil

I just tried cropping the re post by Phil and looks really good !!! Don't like birds at the bottom of frame, particularly since they are only partially included !!! Nice looking Pelican !!!

Harold, Great shot. I like the colors in the orig. post better. I do agree w/ Gus about the one pelican at bottom right -but I would keep the rest! Very nice shot!!!

I don't mind the birds at the bottom as much as I don't like how the horizon is dissected by his wings. It's a pet peeve and I'm obsessive, I know...but I think the image would have been stronger if the entire bird was in the blue area of the water when the image was made. I still think you caught a priceless moment, though!
