    Default Night Heron Floating

I took this at Shark Valley. Canon 10D, 100-400 lens @ 220mm. 1/200 @f6.3, -1-1/3 EV. It looks like the whites might be blown out, but they are not. I did a curves adjustment to try to bring out some detail. Any suggestions?

First of all, the moment you've captured is amazing, a first time for to to see a Night heron floating like this, love the pose and the head long feathers touching the water, to save the whites I would suggest to work in the raw file (darkening it), convert it to a tiff file and then selectively take only those whites you want to save into this file you're shoing to us. Congratulaitons on such a rare (to me) catch!

A first for me too, seeing one float like this. I really like the pose also. Nice job

A first for me as well and I have many many Black Crowns and Yellow Crowns Juvies and adults and never saw this behaviour before. Nice shot and great timing, congrats.
