I've been in California for a couple of days now. We got shut out this morning because of high winds. But I've had a chance to do quite a bit of flight photography with the 50D. I stand by my earlier statement that there is no comparison between the 50D and the 40D for flight; the 50D does a much better job of locking on quickly and staying on. I'm still trying to decide how the 50D compares to the Mark III, but that statement should tell you that it's in the same ballpark. I loaned the camera to a friend who uses the Mark III extensively and he felt the 50D was significantly better at AF. The Brown Pelicans are abundant and quite hungry in the morning. They put on quite a show!

I am so very excited that your thoughts on the 50-D are so positive, mkne is expected here on Wed. vis UPS, just can't wait. I have been using the MK-2 and MK-3 and hope it comes close as you say, and any tips Doug would be greatly appreciated. Wonderful job on this Pelican and thanks for sharing.
Nice flight image of the pelican. Nice sharpness. The slightly out of focus wing tip on the right wing is a distraction for me. Nice to hear continued positive remarks on the 50D.
Excellent Pose! That was a crazy morning and alot of fun. I enjoyed shooting with you over the weekend.
I wish you all the best in the coming days.....
