    Default Simplicity

While strolling the beach in Monterey this stone caught my eye as the wave went out. I liked the simple form the rock and sand made.

    Canon 10D
    Canon 28-105 @ 90mm
    ISO 100
    1/350 sec @ F8
    Bogen 3021 tripod w3055 ballhead
Soft light as it was very foggy

Personal critique would be that I should have shot this at F16 or 22 to make the sand a little sharper.

    God's good light to all,

    Chris

Chris this is very simplistic as your words describe-but that's what makes it appealing to me. I think it's a very good composition and I like the strong blue color of the rock! I bet it would look cool if you did a 180 degree flip on it.

    Hi:

Agree with Denise on all accounts. I flipped it and I like it.

For kicks I did a watercolour sketch which I don't like as much as original flipped

Wow, the 180 makes a lot of difference. I like it that way.

Like it flipped too, and a little lighter.

Now, see, I would have done a 90 degree turn counterclockwise...

Chris this is really a powerful image. There's just something about simplicity that makes for a striking photograph. I'd print and hang this one if I was you.
