    This buck had been thrashing about making himself into a real mean fightin' machine, but I thought he looked just a bit comical!:)

    Canon 300D Canon 100-400L IS at 400mm
    ISO 400
    1/2000 at f5.6

    Nicely done, did he know you were about or did you do a bit of stalking to get in position?

    If I was being critical I would say the crop is a bit too tight, would like a bit more room to the right and even more to the left.

    Jonathan,

    I agree he is goofy looking like this. I like the dappled light - especially in the BG.

    I think John has a good point on the crop. On the bottom you are too close to the virtual legs - he can see them but they are there. On the back, you are cutting the virtual leg off.

    His grass "bonnet" does detract from his ferocity but apparently the ladies like it. I like the dappled light and BG colors.

    I agree the composition could have been better. I was stalking this buck and he knew I was there, there were trees and ferns every where so every time I got anything like a view of him I grabbed a shot. It was pretty frustrating because he just wouldn't keep still.
