Another Yellow-rumped Warbler from yesterday at Sandy Hook (NJ).

Yes, I know the bird is pointed away from the camera. A head turn would have helped a lot. That notwithstanding, what do you think?

Aside from the mentioned lack of head turn this one looks much better. I might try to get some more details in the shadows by using curves and/or S/H.

Agree on your self critique, nice warm tones and Axel is right on his wish for the use of S/H.

I love the BG and the light, pose would've worked as mentioned with a better head turn, very nice still. Congratulations!

    Axel, Fabs, Ramon,

I thank you all for your critiques. The comments are very helpful and very much appreciated.

Using a 2x TC with the 300mm f/2.8L IS seems to bring out my paranoia at times. I kept looking at this image and thinking it looked a bit on the soft side to me. Something about the feathers just didn't look as sharp as I thought they should. But none of you commented to that effect so I will gladly accept that is was just a touch of paranoia on my part! :)

    Again thanks!
